Port Rois

The Irish name Port Rois derives from "port" (harbour) and "rois" (promontory), literally "harbour of the promontory," a name documented in medieval records. The Portrush promontory shows evidence of continuous occupation from circa 4000 BC during the Mesolithic "Larnian" period, when Mesolithic hunter-gatherers worked flint tools at the headland.
