Baile Thormaid

The place name Ballyfermot (Baile Formaid, or sometimes Baile Thormaid) is derived from the Middle Irish baile ("farmstead") and the Old Norse personal name Þormundr (Tormod), indicating the presence of early Viking settlers in the area.
