Swifts Tower

Swift's Tower stands on the grounds of Castle Townsend in Castletownshend, a village in the barony of Carbery, County Cork. The tower is named after Jonathan Swift, Dean of St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin (1667-1745), who visited southwest Ireland in 1723 following the death of Esther Vanhomrigh (Vanessa).
